CAS: Mestareiden liigan karsintakierroksen ottelu FK Pobeda-FC Pyunik oli sovittu
Kansainvälinen urheilun välitystuomioistuin CAS on tänään antamassaan päätöksessä todennut, että kauden 2004/2005 Mestareiden liigan karsintakierroksen ottelu makedonialaisen ja armenialaisen seuran välillä oli sovittu. CAS vahvisti UEFA:n valituselimen päätöksen mm. siitä, että FK Pobeda suljetaan kahdeksaksi vuodeksi UEFA:n kilpailuista alkaen kaudesta 2009/2010. Kyseessä on ensimmäinen CAS:n antama päätös sopupelistä.
The CAS Panel decided to confirm in part the UEFA decision considering that the evidence brought by UEFA was sufficient to establish that the matches between Pobeda and Pyunik were fixed. The involvement of Mr Zabrcanec, President of the Club, in this manipulation was recognized by the CAS Panel and, as a consequence, the responsibility of FK Pobeda was also confirmed. However, the CAS Panel was not satisfied by the evidence brought forward by the UEFA against Mr Zdraveski and was not comfortably satisfied to establish that he was actually involved in match fixing.
